"Mol na hOige agus Tiocaigh said"    " Praise they young and the shall prosper"

St. Joseph's football club was founded in 1998 when Summerhill F.C.& Bealnamulla Ladies F.C. amalgamated to form St. Joseph's F.C. The reason for this was to have a more organized club with more help and to field teams at all ages. In 1998/1999 season St. Joseph's competed in the Athlone & District Schoolboy/Girls (ADSL) league for the first time. The club had success in its first season winning the U/10 league and fared well in all the rest. St Joseph's have gone on to win 17 league and cup titles in the last nine seasons. in its ten year existence membership has grown from 60 in 1998 to over 200 in 2008. St. Joseph's at the moment field four U/8,five U/10, two U/11,twoU/12, two U/13,one U/14 and one U/15, a total of seventeen teams.

At present St. Joseph's play their football in Cushla Park Monksland, they share these grounds with Monksland United F.C., Clann na nGael GAA club and Bealnamulla Ladies F.C. Over the years we have based ourselves on a community club working with the young in the parish of Drum/Clonown  and surrounding areas. We never had to advertise for players to join our club.

St. Joseph's have players from Clonakilla N.S.,Summerhill N.S.,Ardkeenan N.S., Cornafulla N.S. and Clonown N.S. playing with the club.

At present St. Joseph's is the affiliated schoolboy/girls club to Athlone Town F.C. and are official ball boys for Athlone Town home games. We also share ball boy duties with other schoolboy clubs in the ADSL at International games played in Athlone.

In 2002 & 2008 St.Joseph's created its own bit of history by becoming the first club from the ADSL to reach the semi- final of the U/13 and U/11 national cup competition. International honours did not pass us by either with Colin Nicholson and Conor Jordan getting caps at U/14,U/15 and U/16 leval for Ireland

In 2008 St. Joseph's made a big decision as a club by linking up with Monksland United F.C. to create a pathway for 17/18 year olds to play junior football. This has proven to be the right move with Monksland fielding two teams in the Combine Counties League. Next year our aim is to have a youths team.
