Two goals from Joey Howard sealed a narrow but well deserved victory in this tightly contested encounter. Well done lads.
U11 Div1 : St Josephs Bulls 1 Hudson Bay Rhinos 2
This was a very entertaining game with some great football from both teams and plenty of goalmouth action at both ends. St Josephs had the better start but failed to capitalise on their early chances. Just before the break, however, the deadlock was finally broken after some great work from Patrick O’Brien and Cian Mulvey set up a chance for Keelan Kilroy to slot home the opener.
The second period started where the first left off with Josephs pressing hard for the second goal. The pressure was not rewarded, however, and the home team were caught on the break as Hudson Bay grabbed an equaliser. With their tails up Hudson bay then dominated the possession until the end of the second period but a resolute defence and an excellent save from David Finneran kept the scores level.
The final period proved to be equally exciting for the large crowd who were treated to some end to end football. A great St Josephs attack saw the Hudson Bay keeper produce an excellent save and soon after the play switched to the other end where the winner was finally scored by the visitors. The St Josephs performance deserved a better result, however, many positives can be taken from this game. Hard luck on this occasion lads.
