U10 North: St Josephs Lions 5 Mullingar Ath Tigers 0
After a close opening period St Josephs ran out emphatic winners against a gallant Mullingar team. The first goal came early in the second period with Callum O'Brien finishing from close range from a fine corner from Sea Henry. The home team went into the break two up when Ruairi Lenehan opened his account for the season with a neat finish.
Early in the third period came the third goal after a fine trademark break down the right by Sea Henry who finished with a low shot to the bottom left hand corner. St Josephs were on top at this stage and it was no surprise when Callum O'Brien picked the ball up at the edge of the box and fired a shot to the roof of the net for the fourth. The final goal was scored by Conor Farrell after a neat turn he fired a fine low shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
This was another example of the growing belief within the team and in particular it's defensive strength and an increasing ability to score goals. The entire team put in a fine team performance with Aaron Gavin Lennon, Neill Macken, Alex Francis and Callum O'Brien in particular in excellent form. The team were superbly led by captain of the day Thomas Bannon. Man of the match for St Josephs was Paul McGrath, who started so many moves with some superb passes and his defensive positions were at times similar to the great man himself.
