U10 North:  St Joseph’s Lions 8   St Francis Lions 0

In an open and free flowing game St Joseph’s overcame a spirited St
Francis team thanks to some clinical finishing by the home side. St Joseph’s started well and soon took the lead with a well taken goal from Sea Henry. This was followed up with Aaron Lennons first goal of the season to send St Joseph’s into the break 2-0 in front. The next score was going to be important and after a tight opening
to the second period St Joseph’s increased the lead after a fine run and cross by Sea Henry was headed home by Conor Farrell. A few minutes later, after the move of the game David Fortune finished well to take the score to 4-0. The fifth came from Ruairi Lenehan who had a great game throughout, before a second goal of the game from the equally impressive Sea Henry left St Joseph’s in a commanding position heading into the 3rd period. In the final period, further goals from Conor Farrell and Shane Allen saw St Joseph’s run out deserved winners. After this comprehensive victory the goalscorers will make the headlines, however, the Man of the Match accolade must go to Thomas Bannon, not just for his assured defensive display but also for his desire and ability to get the ball under control and turn defence into attack on many occasions.

U12 Div 1: St Joseph’s  0   Kinnegad  2

This young St Joseph’s side produced a courageous and determined performance against a more physically strong Kinnegad side and were unlucky to come away with at least a point, and on another day maybe even a victory. The home side were well organised and solid at the back throughout and had opportunities to take the lead with some good counterattacking play. Two second half goals from Kinnegad sealed the victory, however had St Joseph’s shown a bit more composure in front of goal and had Keelan Quinn not been denied twice by the inside of the post the result could have been reversed. Overall this was a massive improvement on the away fixture and the lads should be proud of their performance. Team: Ronan McAlary, Ruairi Lennon, Eoin O’Neill, Rory Barrett, Niall Fowler, Conor McGlone, Brian Hannon, Damien Duff, Ian Naughton, Darragh Kildea, Keelan Quinn, James Kilmartin, Cian Mulvey, Ciaran Tumulty.

U10 South: St Joseph’s Tigers 5  Willow Pk 0
