U12 Cup, Last 16 (1st Leg) : St Joseph’s 3 AC Celtic 1
St Josephs hold the advantage in this tie after a comfortable 3-1 victory over a spirited AC Celtic. The home side dominated the early exchanges and it was Colin Cotton who opened the scoring to put Josephs one up after ten minutes. Josephs played some neat passing football but there was always a threat from the visitors. Eoin Hannon and Darragh Lennon worked very well on the right wing and caused a lot of trouble for Celtic defence. Callum McCormack played a fine through ball to David Griffin but his effort was well saved. It was an AC corner that saw these sides draw level before half time, however, Josephs continued to press for more goals with Jamie McBride and Sean McManus going close. At the resumption of the second half Josephs continued to apply pressure and it was Sean McManus who gave Josephs the lead from close range. Josephs didn't have it all their own way as fine efforts from Cathal Stacey and Liam Flowers forced Brandon Ryan to make some fine saves. The third goal of the game was scored by dynamite Niall Connaughton who was in the right place to fire home from a well taken corner. Great team performance from all.
