U10 North:  Willow Park 2  St Joseph’s Lions 8

St Josephs travelled across town last Saturday morning and put in a classy performance against a well fancied Willow Park team. St Joseph’s started confidently and it was no surprise when Ruairi Lenehen put the visitors 1 up after good work down the left from Conor Farrell. St Josephs were playing fine open football and soon went further ahead with 2 neat finishes from Conor Farrell following super play by Sea Henry and Ruairi Lenehan. As the first period neared the finish Willow came back into the game as some hesitancy in the Joseph’s defence gave Ben Troy the opportunity to finish smartly to the back of the net. Into the second period St Josephs continued to play attacking football and after a penalty was awarded for a handball on the goal line, up stepped Conor Farrell to complete his hat-trick. St Josephs continued their attack on the Willow goal and another good break down the flank set up Neil Mackin for Joseph’s 5th. Number 6 came in the form of a super strike from Conor Farrell picking the ball up on the left hand side of midfield and driving an unstoppable shot to the top of the net. Into the last period with St Josephs in control, Aaron Lennon and another fine finish from in-form Sea Henry completed the scoring and sealed an excellent team performance by the visitors. This was a day when the entire team were on top of their game with Michael Hanley back to his best in goal, Luke McLean and Aaron Gavin Lennon excellent in defence and Ruairi Lenehan and Shane Allen leading the line superbly throughout. Well done to all.

U11 7-a-side:  Hodson Bay 0   St Joseph’s Beavers 3

St Joseph’s travelled to Hodson Bay last week and came away with a well deserved victory. After an intense period of St Joseph’s pressure and several missed chances, the deadlock was broken as Ruairi Lenehan reacted quickly to a loose ball in the Bay area to put the visitors in front. St Joseph’s were unlucky not to double their advantage after a great run and super shot from Liam Donnelly was excellently saved by the Bay keeper. It was then Hodson Bays turn to be unlucky as they were denied by the Joseph’s post. St Joseph’s then went 2 up early in the second period after the Bay keeper got a hand to another Ruairi Lenehan strike but could not do enough to keep the ball out of the net. In the closing minutes, great work from Keelan Kilroy set up Alex Francis to seal an impressive victory for St Joseph’s.
